What is Shish? 

"Shish Taouk" or "Tawook" originates back to the Ottoman empire and was later introduced to the Middle Eastern cuisine. Nowadays, it is widely spread not only around the Levantine region, but also to different parts of the world. The name comes from the Turkish words "şiş" that means "skewers", and "tavuk/takagu", which means Chicken, and perfectly describes what this dish is all about; chicken cut into cubes, marinated with flavour some spices, skewereds and grilled over open fire.
